Martin Roach
Inspiration, Hope and Triumph in Adversity

roachinspire.com

"Hi, My name is Martin. I live in Reading in the south of the UK. My life has been one of genuine struggle and fight, but also personal triumph.

I was born in the 1970s with cerebral palsy. The expectation was I would never walk or lead a normal adult, productive life. I survived and thrived. I was walking without the aid of a calliper by the age of 10. I got through school, went on to university and have led a productive and successful career in IT tech.

Life took another huge curveball in 2002 with blood results confirming I that was HIV positive. During my diagnosis and treatment period, I came close to death twice. I survived and thrived and met the love of my life who gave me with the acceptance and validation for who I was, despite who I was. My journey with both these health conditions is a unique one. I have been subject to stigma, bullying and patronage as a result of both these conditions. However my journey is a positive one.

One of my earliest inspiring memories was watching Terry Fox on TV, in 1980 embarking on an east-to-west cross-Canada for cancer research, having lost a leg to cancer. He made me realise that in life genuinely anything in life is possible, regardless of the things that life presents you with.

I would like to share my journey as a Keynote Speaker to businesses, colleges and other institutions to bring hope, assurance, to educate and INSPIRE. Thanks - Martin"
